Our woodland management plans are designed to maximise the environmental, aesthetic and economic potential of woodlands. Our starting point is to gain an understanding of the vision and desires of the landowner. We then survey the woodland and view the relevant records such as habitat designations, to see how this can best be achieved.
We specialise in woodlands where environmental objectives are important to the owners. Our clients include owners and managers of Sites of Special Scientific Interest, County Wildlife Sites and other environmentally sensitive sites.
We are experienced in practical, hands on forestry work and habitat management as well as the cerebral side of woodland management and design. Our practical work includes contracting work for Devon Wildlife Trust. This gives us an understanding of the practical implications of the management decisions contained within the plans we make and an understanding of best environmental practice on a practical basis.
We love seeing the positive results on habitats and wildlife in our woodland and the woodlands that we plan and manage ourselves. Woodland management plans are an amazing opportunity to create these environmental benefits, on a much larger scale.
Where a woodland is over 3 hectares (7.5 acres), we can apply for a government grant to pay the cost of the woodland management plan. This means that there is no cost to the land owner. For woodlands smaller than this, we can write a full woodland management plan, with Forestry Commission approval. Alternatively, we can write a simpler plan, if the landowner just wants an insight into the ecology and potential of their woodland, depending on their needs and budget.
